Citizen of the world interior designer Carolina von Humboldt spotlights 7 collection-worthy designs

Carolina's Wish List

New York-based interior designer Carolina von Humboldt has cultivated her cosmopolitan sophistication by living the most enviable life. Born in Paris to Spanish-German parents, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, and along the way she's become fluent in five languages. Her career began as a textile designer in Paris, where she also studied the ancient art of trompe l’oeil. She then became a color consultant before taking on curating projects for a range of fairs and institutions in France, Spain, and Germany. Thanks to her impeccable taste, clients began asking her to go into interior design. She has since decorated the Estée Lauder headquarters in Paris and the Bilboquet restaurants in New York and Atlanta, among other projects.

In Carolina's words, “Interior decoration is a balance that naturally brings about enduring flair; as much as dressing elegantly or setting a proper table, decorating is an art form that enhances style and comfort.” With the holiday season approaching, we just had to know what this design doyen has on her wish list.

Midcentury Dining Chairs by Vittorio Dassi

"These 1950s Italian chairs by Vittorio Dassi are light and easy to move. I always find heavy dining chairs very annoying. Plus, these are so amusing and whimsical. The open space in the back can also be seen as a heart ❤️!"
