Big-Game

Big-Game is a product and interior design studio founded by designers Augustin Scott de Martinville, Elric Petit, and Grégoire Jeanmonod in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2004, a year after the trio met.

Jeanmonod was born and raised in Switzerland (1978); he studied industrial design and graduated with a bachelor's degree from University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL) in 2003. In addition to his Big-Game efforts, he has taught design at ECAL since 2009. Petit was born in Belgium (1978), and grew up between his European home and Algeria. He studied industrial design at La Cambre in Brussels, earning his bachelor's degree in 2001 and his master's degree in 2003. He has also taught at ECAL since 2009, and has served as the head of the school's undergraduate program in industrial design since 2010. De Martinville was born in France (1980), but grew up in Beijing and Hong Kong, and he graduated with a master’s degree in industrial design from ECAL in 2005. He has taught at ECAL since 2005; he was head of its master's program for luxury industry and design from 2008 to 2012 and has been head of the master's program for product design since 2012.

The studio describes its overarching style as “simple, smart, and functional.” Its client roster includes Alessi, Hay, and Globe-Trotter, among others. Notable projects to date include the Scout watch for Lexon (2014); Cargo box for Alessi (2013); Castor chair for Karimoku New Standard (2012); Pen USB memory stick for Praxis (2011); as well as the Bold chair (2008) and Moose hunting trophy for Moustache (2005). Big-Game’s work is part of the permanent collections of the Museum für Gestaltung (Switzerland), the Musée du Grand-Hornu (Belgium), the Mudac (Switzerland), the Centre Georges Pompidou (France), the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain (France), and New York’s Museum of Modern Art (USA).
